I am about 75% done. I have replaced the fuel pump in my car. I have already remove the fuel pump, and put in the replacement. The problem that I am running into is, that with new o-ring, the metal ring deal used to fasten the seal is proving quite a challenge in pressing down and turning clockwise. Is there a special tool or something that I can use as this is proving to be a pain in the butt? I supplied pictures for visual reference.

You are right. It can be hell with the new o-ring. I usually use the old one to make it a little easier to get caught. It also help to spread some dielectric grease on the seal. There are no special tools to make it any easier though.
