When removing the cam phasers/sprocket. Do the timing marks have to line up with the colored link? I have read the repair manual. It helps and doesn't. Thank you

I just read through the manual, and it doesn't indicate doing that for removal, but it does for install. However, the pullies need to be in specified positions for removal. So, for installation, align the colored link on the timing chain with the timing mark on the VCT assembly.

I attached the directions for timing chain replacement. It explains the procedures related to removal and replacement. Take a look through it and see if you have questions.

Let me know if that helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

I got a better understanding. Just wanted to be sure. They didn't have to line up. Before removal. Thank you a lot.
