replacing a/c clutch assembly

I purchased the new assembly the reason being the old one the screw was loose and came out while driving and so I lost the front part of the assemby. In the new assembly box there was 6 washers. So thequestion is why so many washer ? Thank you for any advice, sincerely, Fred Reuter

they are for setting the gap between the clutch and the coil. it should be .017
