Hi,

I have a light issue (they wont turn on) and have been at the Opel dealer and they found out that the problem is the BCM controller.

A new one is very expensive.

Is it possible to buy a used one and just install the ‘new’ one? Or has it to be reprogrammed and e.c. before??

Hello and thanks for your question!

The Opel Insignia is also the Buick Regal in the United States, just so our readers know - and yes, the BCM will require programming to complete the repair. However it does not require a very high level scan tool, maybe you can find a scan tool to do it cheaper than the dealer, the necessary thing to program is actually the wireless transponder keys and of course write the VIN to the module. After that it should self-learn everything else once the VIN matches.

First you will need to remove the lower portion of the dash panel on the driver's side (if left hand drive), and you will find the BCM there. I attached some diagrams to help you if you decide to do it. Let us know how it goes - we are here to help.
