My replacement pump is different and I didn't take it out and the old one got smashed. I don't know if the regulator should have some kind of line hooked up to it the new assembly the regulator is at the top and old one was at bottom. There is on line in tank and one on top and not sure if any other. If I had a service manual I could figure it out most likely but I can't afford it. I got that car from a friend it quit running on him he said it was timing chain, but after staring fluid it was found out fuel related and when pump was out check it manually it wouldn't work and was corroded bad.

Hi:

I'm not sure exactly what is happening, but it sounds like you got the wrong pump. I attached two pictures below. They are an exploded view of the fuel pump assembly. See if that helps. Also, I have directions, pics, schematics or whatever you need. Let me know and I'll try to get it for you.

Thank you Joe. I believe it is also my only problem is when I put in to any place the make model and engine size it comes back as this pump. I actually got this pump from car parts. Com and it says it only fits the 2006 to 2008 Toyota Rav 4 3.5. I have a 2007 but my old pump looks like your diagram and not like the replacement one.

The only thing I can say is that it looks different than the original because it's aftermarket. The only way to get an exact fit is from the dealer.
