Replacement bulbs

If you have the high-intensity-discharge lamp, those are very expensive. It is just as likely the ballast is defective and the bulb is okay. I would switch the bulb from the other side to be sure the ballast is okay.

Do not touch the glass on these bulbs. The oil from your fingerprints will burn through the glass and destroy the bulb.

The number for the bulb is "D2R".

I replaced this bulb last year so I guess it would be ballast. It that expensive and hard to change?

I do not usually get involved with these because I really do not like staring at them from oncoming traffic. I have read that on some imports, the bulb and ballast together can cost over $1,500.00. I suspect that was when the parts had to come from the manufacturer. Some of them, like BMW, Audi, and VW are very proud of their parts, and charge accordingly.

I use the Rock Auto web site for reference quite bit, and the most expensive bulb I found for your low beam was $91.00, but that is for special applications, (off-road use). They also list separate high and low beam bulbs which is different than what newer cars use. They have a single high-beam bulb with a mechanical flapper that blocks part of them for the low beam.

To add to the confusion, they list three high-beam bulbs for less than three bucks, but no low-beam bulbs. That would agree with my single bulb /flapper story.

The "D2R" I mentioned previously is not correct. That is one of those off-road bulbs.

Okay, now that I shared all that wondrous story, after further research, I found that your model was available with two different head light systems. One system uses the common low/high beam regular bulb. The other uses a standard high-beam bulb with a high-intensity-discharge low-beam and ballast. Now you are in the better position to determine which you have. Look at your old bulb to see if there are two filaments in it. One might be broken loose and rattling around in there, so do not overlook that. If that is what you have, you should be able to find a replacement at any hardware store or auto parts store, and it will not be very expensive. If you have an HID bulb, I would want to switch it with the one from the other side first to be sure it is just the bulb that is bad. Look on the side of the base to see if there is a part number that I can look up.
