Installed a new-used transmission, the car starts but the transmission does not engage?

If the car is running and shift it into park, it makes a weird noise and won't go into park, unless it's shut off. Please tell me what to do to fix this. Also, one of the solenoids was broken off during install replaced it with one from junk yard.

It sounds like one of the CV axles is not in completely allowing the transmission to free wheel. Please recheck the CV axle installation and get back to me. The image below shows where the axle will be popped out of.

Thanks, I will!! I'm having a problem with steering column where it attached to rack coming inside I have tighten pinch bolt but it still spins around ....do I need another steering column?
