Car starts but will not stay running. My question, does the car listed above key have a chip? Or do we need to reset the computer?

Hi Jill and welcome to 2CarPros.

You should just need to relearn the key cylinder to the PCM. Here is a step by stem on how to do that. Let me know if this helps you out:

Welcome to 2CarPros. How long does it run when it does start? What does the security lamp do while this is happening? Your car has what is known as passlock. The piece in the lock itself tells the BCM that it is the correct key, no chip in the key. However if the ignition switch has been changed you have to program in the new switch or the anti-theft will think you are trying to steal the car and shut it off after a couple seconds. The best way to do this is with a good scan tool, it works 100% of the time if the system is working correctly.
The alternate procedure takes about 30 minutes and works about 1/2 the time.

To perform it you need to start with a good battery, Then you insert the key and turn the key to the on position. Momentarily turn it to start but don't start the engine. Just a quick blip is enough. Watch the security light. It should start flashing or stay on. Let it stay in this position for 10 minutes, at that time the light should turn off. When it turns off, you turn the key off.

Now repeat the key process 2 more times for a total of three cycles. At the end of the third cycle turn the key off, wait about 20 seconds and try to start the engine. If the process worked the security light will come on, then go off and the engine will run normally.
If the light comes on and starts flashing the process didn't work. I've had times where doing it 3 times didn't work but 4 did and others where the scan tool was the only way.

Good luck and let us know if it worked.
