Replace ignition switch and key

2005 CHEVROLET IMPALA

I installed a used ignition switch and lock key lock cylinder. now I tried to reset the pass-code by letting it sit for ten minutes with the security light blinking key on. I tried to restart the car and I get nothing but dash lights.
