Judging by the pictures what would you say if a mechanic told you this car's head gasket had just been replaced, as well as head removed and machined because it was warped?

the metal around exhaust could just be messed up because of age. are you using coolant? has a pressure check and or chemical check been done to say its a head gasket problem? Machining a head is a good idea because Honda's have a habit of warping so that prevents having to install another head gasket because it fails right away. pictures do not show much it is more if you are using coolant or not.

If that is the engine and the claim is that it was just done, I would say BS. Most of those fasteners look like they were last touched at the factory.

My question is do you think the work has already been done, judging by photos. My suspicions are the same as Steve W's. In order to get to the head, and gasket, these nuts would have to be removed, yes? And it seems pretty clear that they were not. Since I am not a mechanic, and do not do my own work, I wanted to get some opinions before confronting the guy who "did the work".

I am curious as to how much it would cost me to get that same exact procedure done?

I can tell you it will probably end up costing the mechanic some dental work.

Do not go there yourself. Talk to the law first.
