2003 Renault Scenic Flickering Digital Instrument Diplay

2003 Renault Scenic Engine Size unknown Two Wheel Drive Manual 25500 miles

I started my car this morning to find the digital instrument display flickering and then disappearing completely, although the engine seems to be running OK. There are also some beeps associated with the display flickering and disappearing and occasionally reappearing.
Any idea what is causing this problem, and how to get it sorted, as I have two young kids, and don't want to get stranded ?
