Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Renault Megane 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 111202 km

Motor is 1.9 D (diesel). I have bought the car 6 months ago.
4 months ago (8000km ago) I get a lot of oil smoke from a pipe that goes from the motor to air filter. It gets a kind of oil leak even (condesed, I suppose) on the end of pipe. It smokes when I slightly open the oil cap when the engine is on, also.
Oil has been changed 2000km (1month) ago and I have measured the compression on cylinders it is 30 29 28 30. Oil comsuption is absolutely normal (for 2000 km it has moved for less than 1mm on oil dipstick). From the exhaust - a black smoke can be seen when I deep press the gas pedal, only.
Car temperature is normal (on the half of a scale).

Motor starts for less then 1 sec of turning the key.

Last couple of days I feel like the car is not "aggressive" as it was (may be subjective feel), but the compression is the same. No "serv" light on the dashboard.

Any idea?

Doubt if it is an internal engine problem with the compression being so close on all 4 cylinders. Have you tried replacing the fuel seperator (filter)? There isnt too much that can make a diesel lose power when it is internally ok other than fuel, but if it starts good, then im not sure that you have much of a problem.

Major problem for me is greasy motor that I have since the "oil steams" from the "secondary exhaust". After 30 days motor looks like it is going to knock for an hour :) I suppose that is a reason of (fake) lost power.

I have no idea why it smokes, since the compression is ok?

Smoke may be due to mixture problem, might want to find a Diesel shop in your area to look at it, problems like that can cause internal engine failure with Diesel engines
