Engine Cooling problem
2000 Renault Megane Two Wheel Drive Automatic 82000 miles

Hi there,
i have an 2000 w reg automatic- I have already posted on another subject but the megane has a knack of doing stange things.

After I go on a small to medium journey when I switch the engine off and walk away from the car I hear what can only be described as the fan (its sounds like a turbo cool down) kicking in?

Is this normal behaviour or could the fan bee not working, also I just had the water pump and timing belt replaced now this any ideas?

Hi OPSMERLIN22,

Thank you for the donation.

When the coolant temperature is higher than expected, the cooling fans would turn on even if the engine is stopped. This is normal but if it is occurring too often or does not stop after some time, then it is not.

If the coolant level is correct, then you need to check the fan switch. It is the switch for controlling the fan relay.

Our database does not have any information on this vehicle so I am not able to provide you with much data.
