Hi there,

I don't have a great deal of information on your car, but if you can get a scan done and report the fault code I will see what I can do for you.

Also check the coolant level is correct ... is the vehicle overheating or getting excessively hot ?

The engine is defanately hotter than usual, I ran the engine for a while earlier and the engine light came on after 12 minutes, I popped the hood and the fan was still running and the burning smell was there, rather like concentrated exhaust fumes rather than an electrical burning.

With engine cold, check the coolant level is correct ... As MHPAuto's stated earlier, you are going to have to have a diagnostic scan done on the vehicle to see what fault codes the cars computer is storing, without these codes you may be replacing parts unnecassarily ...I'm thinking, faulty thermostat or coolant temp sensor if the coolant level is good !!

hope this helps
