2004 Renault Laguna Engine Managment light on

2004 Renault Laguna 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

Hi
I own a renault Laguna 1.9 DCI the engine managment light came on and I have loss of power, it has gone into limp home mode, took it to a garage who said to change the EGR valve and that would sort it.
I changed the EGR valve but this had no effect, so I bought my own diagnostic computer and this stats are P0409 Exhaust Gas Reciruculation Sensor "A" Circuit.
I am unable to get any information regarding this code or the meaning can you please help

replace the EGR sensor .. not the valve
