1997 Renault Laguna Immobiliser not working

After leaving my car standing for 3-4 days I tried to unlock it using my key fob as usual. The door would not unlock so I tried replacing the batteries but still no luck.
Is this a sensor problem or more likely something to do with the battery?

he battery is flat .. put jump leads onto battery .. lock and unlock the doors to disable the immobolizer then start the vehicle .. do not try and start before turning off the immobolizer !!
