Electrical problem
1998 Renault Espace

I have a 98 Grand Espace diesel, It has been off the road for 18 months and the battery has not been connected. I have now connected up the battery and the central instrument display, ( mileage, speedo guages, clock, radio, glow plug lights) does not light up and the car will not start. Is it that the electronics have shut down ( run out of back up battery power ) How can I fix this ??

try a new battery .. there is no back up system !! also the immobolizer system will now need to be reset and programmed again as it will have lost it's memory .. but this will not affect your dash display .. but the vehicle will not start .. it needs to be plugged into a renault diagnostic computer or equivalent !!
