Engine Performance problem
2002 Renault Clio Two Wheel Drive Manual 55000 miles

i own renault clio 172 sport and a orange light on the dasboard has come on that looks like an engine, after researchin i found out its an exhaust emmision light, also ever since this light has come on when i accelerate my car stutters...kinda like stuggles then the light flashes
would anybody be able to tell me what the problem there is ?? and ideas on fixing it
