2001 Renault Clio 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 78.700 miles

ran engine dry of petrol 2 days ago now car seems to backfire and want to stall everytime I go over 4000 revs also when sitting at lights the car shakes ben told its either fule block or the coil needs replaced can someone tell me what it sounds like

A coil would tend to cause a misfire at all rev speeds and mainly at low rev's. Sounds like you may have a fuel blockage or a bad fuel pump not supplying enough pressure at WOT (wide open throttle) ! Start by checking fuel pressure @ WOT. Does the vehicle have the MIL showing on the dash display?. Have the car pluggged into a diagnostic computer !
