1998 Renault Clio gearbox issues

my clio will drive in reverse but not forward. the box has started leaking when i rev high in drive. but drives normal in reverse. is my torque converter gone or is it the actual gearbox. i have a replacement box but i want to know if the torque converter will still be usable as the car snatches trying to take up drive. many thanks.

Have the vehicle diagnosed by good transmission centre ... it is impossible to say what your fault is untill it is stripped down !!
