Steering problem
1996 Renault Clio Manual 69000 miles

Hi there,i recently had an MOT on my clio. One of the fails was the power steering rack(there was alot of play in the wheel). Two weeks later the play is back in my steering so i took car back to the garage. They have now diagnosed it to be the steering column. Should they have spotted this problem when i had my MOT? Also a couple of people have suggested getting the uuniversal joint welded. I just wondered if this was safe? Thanks

They should have checked all steering parts whilst carrying out the first repair and found the steering column fault .. I would not have any part of the steering column welded ?
