Removal of gas tank

Have disconnected all wiring, filter, filler tube and removed the two rear strap bolts. Suddenly realized heat shield may be an issue. So question is, do I have to remove heat shield to remove tank or will it drop and then slide to the right of the car to slide from over exhaust pipe? Also, watched a video and guy used a little round plastic tool to disconnect fuel delivery line. (picture included) Is this tool required or is there a way around it? If so, does this line connect to pump if I break it because pump comes with two lines already attached with snap ons?

The tank comes down with the shield attached, I attached a picture for you.

Yes, you need the special tool to release the clips. You can get the set at a parts store for about $10.00 to $15.00.

Yes, it was fuel pump, so to speak. In line filter was so clogged could barely blow air through it and sock filter on pump was completely black with gunk. Cleaned out tank before putting in new pump and reinstalling. Was able to get it out of park by pushing and pulling on cables and/or hard lines to transmission but now goes through all gears without having to press button. Ignition switch still locked in on or accessory. At least it will go from point A to B now so I am. good with that, just have to disconnect battery overnight or when sitting for extended period of time. A local mechanic I spoke with explained to me how low fuel issues cause backfire through intake and it made sense. Thank for the help!
