Hello, I have the car listed above with a 1.5 turbo charger. It has been in an accident from the front before me. Now the remote start function does not work. It does not show Hood Ajar light when the hood is open and P sign does not light on dashboard when transmission is on P position. The other shift lights work properly. Can you assist with it, please?

Hi,

If it isn't showing P for the park position, that can certainly prevent it from starting. Tell me, have you tried starting it in neutral? Does the gear indicator show N for neutral?

Also, does the starter engage, turning the engine, or does nothing happen when you try starting it?

Here is a link you may find of interest. It discusses the most common causes of a starter not working.

Let me know as much as you can.

Take care,

Joe

Hi, thanks for your reply. The car starts and runs normally, it has these issues when trying with remote control. Yes, it does show neutral and starts with neutral normally.

Hi,

Does it ever show P for park? Also, you indicated it was in an accident. Have you checked to make sure the linkage is fully placing it in park? If it is and you still have no park indicator, chances are the transmission range sensor is bad. It is internal and really isn't too hard to replace, but I would rather confirm you are not seeing the P when placed in park.

I attached a pic below showing the linkage at the transmission. Inspect that area. Have a helper shift through the gears to confirm it moves properly and nothing, as far as a bracket, is loose.

Let me know.

Joe
