I only had 2 relays in my vehicle. My engine would run hot while idling. So I put a relay in the 3rd place which was empty but was labeled fan 3. Now I’m not running hot but my question is this okay to do?

It sounds like the relay you replaced was for the radiator cooling fans, can you confirm the fans are working by turning on the A/C system and wait about 2 minutes for the fans to come on.

Well, I have the fan issue straightened out. Now I’m having the same issue before with it just turning off while idling or driving for a while. Replaced ignition relay. Could the crank relay play a part in this situation?
