rebuilt engine priming and oil pressures?

I have the truck listed above1500 with just installed rebuilt 5.3, everything is done all parts assembled with assembly lube. i primed the engine by pumping oil at engine plug on the driver side at the bottom. My question is, i had 40 PSI on oil pressure gauge in cab. I got 5 quarts primed into engine put bottom plug back in. I gave truck a few short cranks. My oil pressure gauge showed 10 PSI. I assume the starter by itself is not strong enough to pressure up the oil system. Would that be correct? i have oil coming to top of engine through all rockers. i didn’t start truck only cranked it.
