When my vehicle is stopped completely I hear a harsh vibration like noise coming from the rear. This problem stops when I accelerate. This doesn’t always happen when I’m driving the car.

Car listed above is a Limited AWD CVT Transmission

Hi,

If you have a helper sit in the vehicle with it running and in gear, see if you can tell approx where it is coming from. It could be the exhaust rattling or nearly anything on the vehicle.

I can tell you that it isn't uncommon for the heat shields to come loose and rattle. There are some on the exhaust system and there are some bolted under the vehicle between the exhaust and the floor. Those ones usually come apart and can rest on the exhaust causing this kind of noise.

If it's possible, record the sound and upload it for me to hear. Hopefully, it will be something I heard in the past and will recognize. Also, take a rubber mallet and tap on the exhaust to see if you can reproduce the noise.

Let me know.

Joe

Hi,

I understand. To be honest, when you place it in park, the engine's RPMs change (increase a bit) and you take a load off the drivetrain. That can cause the noise to stop.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
