Hi,
If you hear it over bumps, chances are it is the strut mounting plate that is bad or a failed stabilizer pin.
If you look at the picture below, I highlighted the two things I suspect. Oftentimes, the stabilizer link will actually break where it mounts or is simply loose.
As far as the strut mount is concerned, it is a little different. I always remove the weight off the wheel. Then, I grab the coil spring as close to the top as I can and pull back and forth to see if there is play. Keep in mind, a broken coil spring can also cause a clunk when hitting bumps.
