rear door looked and handle won't work

I have a 2003 BMW x5 which driver side rear door handle has problem that could not open the door. the worst thing is that I could not open the door from inside because the child protection key is locked. I send the car to BMW repair center, but they could not open the door. What should I do? Just leave the door locked forever?

I have had this issue before. The door panel needs to come off to access the door lock. If you're careful, nothing gets broken
