Rear differential sticking when in four wheel drive

I have the push button four wheel drive on my truck and when I go into either 4 hi or 4 lo I can hear the transfer case engage and the front tires get power to them however, the rear tires seem to be locked and do this hopping thing when I give it some gas. I am at a complete loss on what it might be.

It sounds like the rear differential is locked up. When it is in 4wd block the front tires and use a jack on the rear to lift both rear tires off of the ground to see if you can spin one tire to see if the other tire spins the same way or the opposite way.
