I had an error code, bad camshaft sensor, and I replaced the one I knew of on the front right side of the engine. I was told by the parts dealer that there are two sensors, but he could not tell on the engine diagram where it was.

question 1: where is the rear sensor located?
question 2: is it the same sensor part (i.E. Same part as the front sensor)?
question 3: can I get to it to replace with simple tools and without a lift?

Thanks!

Hello,

You can do it yourself without a lift. The sensor is located at the rear of the cylinder head on the intake side. Here is a guide that will help show you what you are in for when doing the job.

Here are the sensor ID of the diagrams below:

1 - Fuel Injector 1
2 - Fuel Injector 2
3 - Fuel Injector 3
4 - Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor
5 - Fuel Injector 4
6 - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid
7 - Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor - Intake
8 - Knock Sensor (KS)
9 - Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) Switch
10 - Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor
11 - Starter Solenoid
12 - Starter
13 - Intake Manifold

and

1 - Ignition Coil Module 4
2 - Ignition Coil Module 3
3 - Ignition Coil Module 2
4 - Camshaft Position (CMP) Actuator Solenoid-Intake
5 - Camshaft Position (CMP) Actuator Solenoid-Exhaust
6 - Ignition Coil Module 1
7 - Engine Harness
8 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 1
9 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2
10 - Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor
11 - Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor (Exhaust)
12 - G108
13 - Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor (Intake)
14 - Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve

Please let us know what happens.

Thanks so much, just to confirm, is it the same sensor? Also, how do I know if the error code is for the intake or exhaust camshaft sensor? Car engine is running fine.
