What could be the cause of rattle sounds when starting the car in the morning?

The most common problem is a loose heat shield on the exhaust system. Basically, the heat shield covers different areas of the exhaust. They are spot welded into place, and over time the welds break allowing the shield to rattle. If the sound seems to come from under the vehicle, that is my first suspect.
