I took my car to AAA auto repair for an oil change, when pulling out of their parking lot there was a rattling noise coming out of my engine area that really got loud at the traffic light. It rattles in Drive (silent when in neutral or park) and rattles in reverse as well. The car does not shake. It sounds like it could be the radiator rattling…I went back to them and the tech took a ride with me and stated that it “could be the motor mounts”. They were going to charge me $89.00 for a diagnosis. Really? I brought you a quiet car and now it sounds like a piece of junk! The car is in great condition, I baby it, don't drive a lot and it's immaculate. I am consistent with oil changes between 3k and 4k miles. Tires get rotated and all 4 tires are in condition at about 7 30seconds.
Thanks for your input, it is greatly appreciated.

Hello,

Please attach a good video with clear sound and picture of engine compartment when noise is evident.

I suggest getting a helper to sit inside the vehicle, applying handbrake and brakes, and put the vehicle in drive or reverse so that the noise and approximate location is evident.

We could the try assist further.

Cheers, Boris

I opened the hood, and the hood holder stick was laying on top of the radiator. The part that holds it in place was broken. So, i think the mystery of the rattling noise has been solved, however since the noise was on and off again, only time will tell, in the next day or two. If the noise continues i will be in touch again but not really sure how to attach/submit a video requested by Boris K. just in case, it will be necessary.

Hi ken,

Yes, lifted the hood and found like i said above the HOODROD was laying on top the radiator. The clip that holds it in place was broken and missing. We did check the oil and looks good. I ordered the hoodrod clip it was $13.
The tech where the oil was changed said it may be the “motor mounts” but I'm frustrated they didn't mention the metal hoodrod laying on top the rad making a rattling noise!
We think mystery is solved!
If we are mistaken, i will send a video to you guys. Thank you!
