When I am driving there is a rattle noise that randomly appears and usually doesnt last long. This happens intermittently and its hard to replicate it. I checked the heat shields and those seem to be in perfect condition. I put the vehicle in park and revved the engine and that sounds normal. Any idea what this noise would be?

Thank you

I have seen the catalytic converter fall apart internally which will make a rattle noise. Can you rev the engine up in neutral to get he noise to come back? Please upload a short video in your response of the problem, so I can see what's going on. That way I can help you fix it.

Hello,

I attempted to make a video to upload but I was unable to replicate the sound. I started the vehicle, put it in neutral and revved it up several times. There was no abnormal sounds that indicated a problem. Should there be other symptoms I should watch for if it could be the catalytic converter?

Thank you

You maybe able to use a rubber mallet and tap on the exhaust system to see if you hear the noise.
