So my car was fine until my little sister drove it and I was put of state. I was told it would not go over 30 but it didn't rev up like it wanted to go over 40 as if I was just happy at 30. So she ended up parking it for a few months. Well, I am trying to get it running now and my first issue was a dead battery, I got that fixed. The second issue now I need some input. It doesn't drive and I mean it doesn't shift gears it revs up if I push the gas but it will not switch out of park. The reverse lights do not come on when it is put in reverse and I can hear it doesn't change gears at all when I move the shifter?

Hello. The first thing I'd do is pull the trim work off from around the shifter and look for a linkage cable. It may have come loose. It's what actually shifts the transmission from Park to Drive, Reverse, Etc. If it's loose, you'll have to do some trials and error to get it figured out and adjusted correctly but it should be doable in your own driveway with just a few simple tools.

I am attaching the info from the manual below that will help with performing this task.

Please run through this material and let us know what you find. Thanks
