Okay, so it started being every once in a while the car (car is an Lt 2d) wouldn't shift out of first. Sometimes it would be right away when you first started to drive it other times it would be after stopping at a light. I'd have to pull over shut the car off wait a minute or two and start it back up. Occasionally I'd have to repeat this to get it to shift. Now it does it all the time. 30 MPH around 3 or 4,000 RPMs. Also now the info center says power steering and when you try and put the car into gear you have to force it because the shift lock won't disengage. Transmission related DTCs are; P0705, p0843, P0700. My friend has a working transmission I can get for $150.00 but if I can avoid having to swap them that would be great plus I don't want to do it and find it was something else.

Hello, I'm Danny.

Here is the information you requested. Here is a tutorial showing how to test electrical wiring if needed:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

I've attached picture diagnostic flowchart steps below related to the 3 transmission codes you provided on your car. Let us know what you find. Maybe this will help determine if you can fix or you have to purchase your friends used transmission. We can provide transmission replacement steps if needed as well. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
