Just installed new battery. Entered proper code. Can program stations (presets), but the radio panel no longer lights up. Manual suggests pushing fader button until it releases, then pulling knob out 1 additional position, but that did nothing. Fuses (1 = radio & lighter; 1 = radion and license plate lights) seem OK. We use Del Sol only during summers since 1998, & = just 80,000 miles on car. We disconnect battery while stored and have to enter code after each reconnect. Could having done this multiple times have caused this problem? Any guesses / solutions / suggestions? Thanks.

Should be nothing to do with disconnecting the battery. Most probably the panel has gone bad.

For a 1994 car, does that mean remove the radio, take it apart and change a burned out bulb? Or a "chip?" Or, does it mean I either need to find a refurbished radio or one still working in a junkyard? Or, just tell my wife "sorry - find some presets you like; nothing can be done"... ? THANKS for replying!!!

Most probably you need a new radio.
