The radio in my car switches off occasionally when driving and sometimes comes back on, on its own or I have to turn it back on myself. ???. The display should have the outside temperature showing in Celsius with numbers but often there is just an F showing for Fahrenheit with no numbers at all. The radio station playing always shows correct station whatever though. . When the Celsius display is up everything appears to work ok but if the F is showing then no lights work on the centre console but dash lights are not affected. The radio never switches itself on though without the ignition on as I notice this seems a problem with Vauxhall. I have had it checked with Vauxhall who said I need a new radio???????, but if it was the radio surely the console lights would not be affected? Also if it was loose wiring then I would not be able to press the radio button and immediately turn the radio back on?

It may be a back voltage feed through the radio, you may have to try a known good unit to prove it one way or the other.
