It sounds like you are trying to install a lower-quality aftermarket radio and use the vehicle's remote amplifier. Unlike with GM and Ford systems that must be used as a matched set, Chrysler radios can all be used with or without the amp, but if not matched correctly, you will have too much or too little bass. Chrysler amps do not increase volume or power, so they can be used with an aftermarket radio, but they will not have the same tone response as the original one had.
The amp gets its turn-on signal from the circuit at the radio that could also turn on a power antenna. That is usually labeled as the "power antenna" wire on aftermarket radios, and in a loose attempt to standardize wire colors, that is typically a dark blue wire.
