The codes I tried didn't work and now I just get 'err' displayed. How can I get it back without having to pay a garage?

More then likely you have an issue with the radio itself or the amp but we need to find out what error code you are getting. I attached the process below on how to retrieve these codes. I also attached the process for figuring out what causes code 3 which is most likely what you have.
