I am not located in the USA. I am planning to purchase and replace the engine cooling radiator assembly. I have very few offers. I can purchase a 52458320 (GM) radiator. But I am not sure if this radiator will fit my car. Unfortunately, the seller cannot provide a picture or photo of this radiator. Maybe you can advise if this radiator will fit my car. It would be great if you could provide me with a image of the 52458320 radiator from the hose connection side. My car listed above is an S, VIN 1G3NL5438PM025097, 2.3L L4 SOHC engine (VIN 3), TH125C transmission. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

If you look at pic 1 below, I highlighted the part number you provided and the suppression number. That is the correct number for your vehicle. The part number he supplied is outdated and has been updated. The correct number is now, "GM part number 52456222."

If you look at pic 2, it shows the updated number and a basic pic of the radiator.

The remaining pics are the directions for replacing the radiator.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

I can only purchase 52458320. Are you sure the 52458320 radiator will fit my car?
(By the way, I went to the GMPartsGiant website using the VIN and saw this information: 1) GM 52458320 - Unable to verify part fitment for your vehicle. 2) GM 52456222 - This part does not fit the vehicle you selected. I am attaching screenshots). I wouldn't want to make a mistake. Please confirm again the choice of GM 52458320.

Hi,

According to my manual, the 52456222 is for the 2.3L SOHC. If you have the DOHC (high performance), it's different.

See pic below. Note: This is all I have to go on for the OEM part number. If you do have a high-performance engine, use the part number listed for it.

Let me know if this helps or if you have questions.

Take care,

Joe

My engine is a 2.3L SOHC. I realized that 52456222 would work for me. But I don't have the ability to buy it (I'm not in the US). I have the ability to buy 52458320. You state that the 52456222 radiator became manufactured much later (after 2001). So, what was the original radiator number on a car that began production in 1992?

Hi,

The 1992 and 1993 take the same radiator as I mentioned, 52456222. That is the original part number for your vehicle. The number used prior to that is 52458320 which is your original question. If you look at pics 1 and 2, I highlighted the part number from my manual for both model years. Note they are the same.

In pic 3, I looked up that 52456222 and it shows it replaced the 52458320. That is from a GM parts page. Based on that information, they should be the same radiator. The part available to you, 52458320 was replaced with 52456222. Chances are there was a slight change in some slight way, but it should work. From what I'm reading, 52456222 is a replacement number for the same part.

Let me know.

Joe

But why does GMPartsGiant not recognize any of these numbers as original? (See photo)

Hi,

I can't answer for GMPartsGiant, but the last pic is also from a GM parts supplier and indicates it does.

I wish I could give you a guarantee, but all I have are the manuals and the cross-reference numbers I provided. Everything I find crosses the two numbers in question. The person you are getting the part from gave you the old number which was superseded by the new one in my manual. When I look up my number, the site indicates the old number which is the one you gave me.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
