So my radiator has sprung a leak somewhere above the drain screw. It being my only car, it's the only transportation I have. I am receiving a replacement radiator on Wednesday but I'm afraid I'm going to cause more damage to my car if I continue to drive it. The car will heat up to about 215 before the thermostat seems to be opening. But after if opens the initial time as long as I'm driving the car won't overheat. But as soon as I am at a red light or stop sign you can see the car wants to overheat. I guess my question or the piece I'm looking for advice for would be if I keep driving with the little bit is overheats am I at risk of blowing my head gaskets?

Good evening,

Make sure the coolant level is correct each time before you drive until you replace the radiator.

As far as the heating up, that sounds like the cooling fan is not working. I will attach a wiring diagram of the cooling fan motor. Check for voltage to the fuses and the motor when it is hot.

Also, I would also replace the thermostat as well when you do the radiator.
