Radiator hose dry rotted causing the engine to overheat?

Hi,

It sounds like all you need is a new radiator hose and coolant, certainly worth repairing.

Which hose was it that failed? If you want, take a few pics of it and upload it for me to see. That way I'll know which one to get you directions for.

So, it was the upper radiator hose that leaked out every day. I replaced the bottom one as well just to be safe. It ran. It did not overheat. I’m thinking I did not add enough coolant because I went to start it gin and it immediately stalled out on me.

Tim, I think it was a good idea to replace the lower one as well. However, the stalling is likely something other. That shouldn't happen due to low coolant. When the engine cools, check to make sure the system is full. Never open the cooling system when the engine is hot.

Once it is cool, open the radiator cap. Next, on the top of the thermostat housing is a bleeder for the cooling system. See pics below. Remove that and slowly add coolant to the radiator until coolant begins coming from the bleeder. At that point, close the bleeder and top off if needed. See directions below.
