Radiator drainplug seems to have this extra piece that looks like it was for directing outflow and preventing it from running down the frame and all over the place.

so, there's the radiator, then the nylon/delrin plug with wings on it, and this collar over the plug that sits between the radiator and the wings of the plug with a tube at 90 degrees to the plug.

It wants to rotate with the plug which is a big problem because there's not enough clearance for it to turn. So it's stupid and useless.

Therefore, you can only unscrew the plug about half a turn before the collar gets in the way.

I can force it, but it feels terrible. Not free turning at all, lots of friction. You keep applying force and nothing moves. You get the pliers and apply more force.

finally, it breaks suddenly with a lot of friction and tight friction squeak.

you keep doing this over and over until it finally starts to drain.

I feel like the wings will break off next time I change radiator fluid.

closing the plug is same thing in reverse.

So, how's this supposed to work? There's not enough room for the 90-degree collar to turn. You can force things, and the plug will turn inside the collar, but it seems not designed for that. It doesn't turn smoothly, and it requires so much force you have to chew it up with some pliers.

However, there's no other way to get the beeping plug open.

I know it seems like the drain plug should work but sometimes it is easier to remove the lower radiator hose, since the drain plug is plastic, it can become brittle and break causing an issue. Check out the diagrams (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.
