Went to get oil change they told me my rack and pinion steering was going out. Mechanic said if I turned hard right, steering wheel stayed in the middle, the same for the left. I did notice it was harder to turn the steering wheel while turning out of a parking spot etc. But, did I get taken?

Good afternoon,

Did you have this issue prior to the oil change?

There is not really anything they touch in the steering system during the oil change.

Can you post a video on what is happening?

Not sure if I had any issues prior to an oil change, but I did notice the wheel a little tighter when in reverse and then turning. Other than that, no issues. I’ve already had the work done and paid for it. Total: $2,198.00. They fixed the tie rods which were busted and new struts. The last two items had been noted awhile back when I got an oil change at the same place-Big O. Should have gotten a second opinion. I still may. I have a trusted mechanic in the area where I live, but very expensive. I need a smog test and only go to him, maybe I’ll ask him about it as well. Thanks for the quick response!

Okay, that is a big number for the work.

That job is worth around $1,400.00 to $1,500.00 with all the parts you listed.
