Humming noise after replacing the rack and pinion

I had my rack and pinion replaced but I am wondering is it absolutely necessary that I got an alignment done after that was replaced? Because I didn't and now there is a constant humming noise coming from my tire but when I jack the car up and try and wobble the wheel it doesn't move any and was told it is not my bearing then. Then another person drove it and said maybe the transmission but when I loosened the 11mm nut, transmission fluid came out so it had enough fluid in it.

Hi,

When you have the rack replaced, the vehicle should be aligned. The tie rods are removed and need to be properly adjusted for alignment.

As far as the humming, first confirm the tires are worn evenly and not cupped or chopped. If they are good, do this. When you hear the humming, (in a safe area) turn left and then right to see if the noise changes pitch. If it does, then there is a good chance it is a bearing. A wheel bearing can make noise and not have any play. I've seen it many times.

The back left tire is choppy on the inside of it.

Pay close attention to the sound and see if it is possible to determine if that is where the noise is coming from. A chopped tire will certainly make noise.

If you have a good spare tire, remove the chopped tire and install the spare as a test to see if the noise goes away.
