You need a relay box system to put a trailer connection on a T&C because the TIPM cannot handle extra lighting draw directly. That is why the OEM system uses a relay block that has a battery and ground feed as well as taps into the various lights using inline connections that go between the lights and the vehicle harness. The tow equipment folks make similar units for less money than the OE unit and they are plug and play as well. The only extra wiring is the power feed wire that runs up to the TIPM and taps into a stud for trailer power.
The relays then get power from the new fused line and when you activate the particular light (say left turn) the power tap to the left turn feed line turns on the relay and the relay feeds the trailer lighting. If you buy one of the universal kits you generally get more than the common 4 pin feed as well if needed. The other advantage to the relay system is that a short or bad bulb cannot cause damage to the vans wiring. For the TC you need 3 relays. One for the running lights, it gets the on signal from the light blue wire that feeds the left marker lights and the plate lamps. Another one gets it's on signal from the left-hand turn signals White with dark green wire, the last gets it's control from the White with yellow wire behind the right lamp assembly. Once they are wired in you can have whatever lights you want on the trailer. If you want a plug and play unit try the CURT 56333 unit, it's a plug and play item, includes the wiring and instructions, if you visit their web site you can download the information on the unit.
