Push to start car will turn over, but will not start

Car was working perfectly the day before, next day it will not crank. Starter sounds like it's working, no prior alternator problems. checked all the appropriate fuses that can be checked. The one thing that was told was to replace the brake switch, which I haven't done yet, but at the same time, I was shown if you remove it from where it was, the engine should start. Unfortunately that's not the case. Do not have a computer to hook it up to, can't get it to a shop to get checked, nor have the resources to actually get it to there during these times.
