Hello,

I had a delayed starting issue witch a slight engine shutter. Thant lead me to fuel pump and purge valve error code. Along with random misfire code. After some research.

Changed the purge valve
Changed the fuel pump

I then had Better starting but heard a loud ticking sound from top of the motor. Still delayed start on occasion. And a tick.

Then more research.
Found out I had a bad coil arcing to the head possible causing the tick. Along with a ground nut broken off the fire wall.

Fixed the ground
Changed all the coils to TRQ performance coil
Changed all the plugs TRQ

Clear codes. Engine lights are off the truck runs much better.

But still the loud tick.

I narrowed down the random loud ticking was coming from the new purge valve. When I unplug the valve the ticking stops. I'm not sure where to go from here.

Any help you will be held in high regard and worshiped be me as an engine god! Help will be much appreciated!

Hi,

I would remove the new part, and have it replaced under warranty to see if you simply got a faulty part.

On the other hand, there is a wire splice that ties several power supplies together including the purge valve. It is splice S142. See pic below. When you hear the noise, move the green wire around or wiggle it to see if the noise stops.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe
