I need to replace a leaking power steering line on my son's vehicle this weekend and I need to see a diagram, if possible, on how to remove them?

There are three different lines, so I have included all of them. Also, I have a video for you to watch that will help you do the job correctly.

Check out the images below which show the power steering line replacement instructions. Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Finally putting the car back together. I am having trouble getting the last pully to fit on my serpentine belt. Do I need to loose the alternator to give me more play? I am moving the tensioner as far as I can but still need more slack.

Try to install the last part of the belt over a pulley with no grooves, this makes it easier.

Hi again,

I removed the power steering pump when I replaced the lines and made sure it went back in place. But the problem is, when I use the tensioner release it is still too tight to go over the last pulley. Am I missing something here? Do I need to loosen the power steering pulley or anything I am missing to get this to go on? This has been a nightmare. I'm too old for this grease monkey stuff lol, 68 years young.

Lol never! Is the pump pulley the same size as the old unit? You might take the old belt to the auto parts store to see if they have the next size larger. Let me know.

Same power steering unit. Seems like it is almost half an inch from going on. I will see if they have the next belt size. I have checked and double checked to make sure the power steering unit is seated okay.

Those are fluid transfer lines for the rack, the belt should be okay, can you check to make sure the belt is on correctly sitting down in the pulley grooves? I have marked the last pulley you should use to install the belt please check it out, also make sure the belt is routed correctly as well.

Hope I am not bothering you too much, but I purchased a pulley remover for the power steering, and this allowed me to connect the line easier. My question is, the routing of the line that is screwed in, so it doesn't mess with the serpentine belt. The pics you sent say to remove the tensioner. If you could show me this, I would appreciate it.

Could you look at this pic and tell me what I am doing wrong with the routing of the line that has the nut on it? The way I have it now the belt won't clear.

Hi Mark,

Yep, that looks close, but there is supposed to be a brace that holds the lines closer to the engine. Can you look at the images above to see what I am talking about please?
