Good morning,
It seems as if the problem with the transmission solenoid is fixed. I removed the valve body and cleaned up the solenoid and the vehicle are now selecting the gear. After doing this should I clear any codes? Thank you for your help as always.

If it has any codes, then yes clear them so that if they return or it has a different issue you can easily track the problem.

I recently cleaned the solenoid in the transmission and vehicle was going in gear. However I went for a test drive and on my way back home the vehicle goes into one gear. I parked the vehicle and tried to put it in drive and it could not go forward but it an reverse. Can you tell me the cause of this problem? I also scanned the transmission on the vehicle and I got the code P730. Can you please tell me what this means? Please see the image below.I really need your help to fix this problem. Thank you.

Hi,

The TCM (transmission control module) is likely what has set this code.

Essentially, this indicates a difference between the rotational speed of the input RPM and the transmission output RPM. There are many potential problems that this code can indicate. However, it typically implies that the transmission is slipping.

Is this the only code that is present? Before this issue, did you notice any shifting or slipping issues? Presently, is the transmission fluid clean and full, or does it have a burnt smell and is brown in color?

Let us know.

Joe

Thank you for this information. Yes, the fluid has a brown color, and it has a burnt smell. Can I use ZF OEM- Lifeguard Transmission Fluid in the car transmission?

Your Jaguar S-Type 3.0L is equipped with a ZF 6HP26 automatic transmission, which requires ZF Lifeguard 6 transmission fluid.
